22nd International Symposium on Graph Drawing
Graph Drawing is concerned with the geometric representation of graphs and networks, and algorithmic methods for visualizing them. It is motivated by applications where it is crucial to visually analyze and interact with relational datasets. Examples of such application areas include social sciences, Internet and Web computing, information systems, computational biology, networking, VLSI circuit design, and software engineering.
The International Symposium on Graph Drawing is the main annual event in this area. The symposium will be hosted by the University of Würzburg, September 24—26, 2014. Researchers and practitioners working on any aspect of graph drawing are invited to contribute papers and posters, and participate in the graph drawing contest.
Each paper must be submitted explicitly to one of two distinct tracks: Track 1 (combinatorial and algorithmic aspects) and Track 2 (experimental, applied, and network visualization aspects). Note that the content of the two tracks has slightly changed with respect to the last two editions of the conference. Papers submitted to one track will not compete with papers submitted to the other track.
The range of topics that are within the scope of the International Symposium on Graph Drawing includes (but is not limited to):
- Design and experimentation of graph drawing algorithms
- Visualization of graphs and networks in application areas
- Graph visualization and data mining
- Geometric and topological graph theory
- Optimization on graphs
- Software systems for graph visualization
- Interfaces for interacting with graphs
- Cognitive studies on graph drawing readability and user interaction
Accepted papers and abstracts of accepted posters will appear in the conference proceedings, published by Springer in the series Lecture Notes in Computer Science.
Selected papers will be invited for submission to a special issue of the Journal of Graph Algorithms and Applications.
Before the Symposium, on September 22—23, the PhD School "Recent Trends in Graph Drawing ─ Curves, Crossings, and Constraints" will be held at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Würzburg.
